The sermon of the cross today is as important as the message of life. Man was created in the image of God to fulfil His will and to show forth His glory. Through rebellion, man was alienated from his Creator. Many have tried to reunite with God through their own efforts like being religious, living a good life, attending church, not harming anyone, etc. None of these efforts was accepted by God as a way of reconciliation because the scripture says, "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags;..." (Isaiah 64:6). Our self righteousness did not meet up with God's required standard. This is what Christ provided for us on the cross. We became acceptable to God through the cross. We gained freedom from sin, satan, sickness, curses, evil covenants and evil foundations. Racial barriers were broken through the cross and a new relationship with God was established.
